INDIANAPOLIS 500 APPEAL TO BE HEARD JUNE 17
Official Release

INDIANAPOLIS -– A hearing has been scheduled for 10 a.m. (EST) Monday, June 17 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to consider the final appeal of the protest filed by Team Green, Inc. contesting the official results of the 2002 Indianapolis 500-Mile Race.

The hearing will be conducted by Tony George, president and chief executive officer of the Indy Racing League, under the rules of the league.

Both Team Green and Penske Racing will have an opportunity to make opening statements, present relevant evidence and question witnesses. It is expected that the hearing will conclude on the same day.

While there is no deadline for the issuance of a decision by George on the final appeal, according to Indy Racing League rules, a decision normally is issued within 30 days as also stated in the Indy Racing League Rule Book. The hearing will be private, as mandated by Indy Racing League rules.
