DISMORE HELD OVERNIGHT AT HOSPITAL, NOT CLEARED TO DRIVE
Official Release

INDIANAPOLIS -– Indy Racing League veteran Mark Dismore will be held overnight at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for observation after suffering a concussion in a crash during Indianapolis 500 practice May 9 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, said Dr. Henry Bock, Indy Racing League director of medical services.

Dismore, from Greenfield, Ind., has not been cleared to drive, Bock said. A decision on Dismore’s participation status will not be made until an examination next week, Bock said.

Six-time Indianapolis 500 starter Dismore spun entering Turn 1 and hit the SAFER barrier with the right rear and right side of the No. 20 Grill 2 Go Sam Schmidt Motorsports Indy Car Dallara/Chevrolet/Firestone. The car then did a quarter spin to the left, slid down the track then did a three-quarter spin to the right, stopping at the inside edge of the track in the short chute between Turns 1 and 2.
